A dilapidated downtown corridor in the City of Lancaster has been transformed into a lively, mixed-use district through investments in the streetscape, housing, and business development, bringing jobs, economic growth, and community revitalization.  The BLVD is now a downtown destination and has had a huge economic impact on the Lancaster region, generating more than 1,900 full-time jobs.  TVi has negotiated with the City of Lancaster to host groups interested in studying urban development and learning more about the BLVD. Transformation Project, an EPA National Award Winning Project for Smart Growth.  The technical visit would include an overview and tour of the The Blvd. Transformation Project, as well as discussion and Q&A about the project’s recognition as an EPA National Award Winner for Smart Urban Growth.

Completed after just eight months of construction, The BLVD demonstrates how redesigning a corridor guided by a strategic vision can spark new life in a community. The refurbished Lancaster Boulevard features an attractive new streetscape, more than 110,000 square feet of rehabilitated commercial space, a new park and museum, and more than 800 low- to moderate-income apartments and condos that are within walking distance of downtown.
