Environment & Sustainability

Governments are faced with many challenges related to sustainability and protecting the environment. Clean and renewable energy strategies are a clear focal point. TVi has arranged many technical visits focused on the role of governments and individual citizens in a more sustainable future.

New York Clean & Renewable Energy Strategies

Net-Zero Energy Residential Home Tour

TVi has worked with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to arrange presentations for overseas groups. NYSERDA promotes energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources. Collectively, NYSERDA’s efforts aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, accelerate economic growth, and reduce customer energy bills.

NYSERDA works residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, university researchers, utility representatives, investors, and entrepreneurs to:

  • Attract capital investment to expand New York’s clean energy economy
  • Overcome barriers to using clean energy at a large-scale in New York
  • Enable citizens to benefit from energy efficiency and renewable energy

Through its contacts, TVi arranged a detailed overview and tour of a highly innovative, net-zero energy residence in California for an overseas delegation of engineers. The building’s retrofit design reduced its energy load by more than 75%, harvesting more renewable energy than it uses. Some cutting-edge energy-efficient aspects of the home include:  passive solar heating, a thermal chimney, advanced insulation, radiant floor heating, solar panels, wind turbines, special hot water heaters, and LED lighting. A special water catch system and drought-tolerant landscaping that capture rainwater are also important features.
